Living in the type of fast-paced society our culture has created can often lead to physical neglect of our own health needs.  If you want to function and feel well on a regular basis, then there are some behaviors you must integrate into your daily routine.  Self-discipline is the key.  You have to learn to tell yourself no, and when to tell yourself to get moving…etc.  If you’re clueless as to where you might begin modifying your daily habits to improve your physical health and performance on a daily basis, then you’ve come to the right place.  Here is a quick overview of just a few behaviors that will set you up for success in life and health. 

Keep up with the proper insurance

It may seem like a nuisance, but having the ability to see the doctor regularly is a big deal.  Your life will be greatly extended with proper medical care.  It will also improve the quality of your life.  Don’t take the ability to carry proper insurance for granted.  If you can afford to, you should have good insurance.  If not, there are always ways to acquire medical attention without incurring some sort of massive debt or bill.  Just don’t be lazy, and put in the proper time to research these options.

Don’t skip your breakfast

They weren’t lying to you in Elementary school.  Breakfast is most definitely the most important meal of the day.  You should make sure that you eat something every morning before beginning your daily activities.  Your meal should consist of foods high in fiber, complex carbs, and protein.  These are power foods.  They contain everything your body needs to produce energy.  You’ll feel a difference in your day.

Make sure you get plenty of rest

Sleep is of the utmost importance.  The body does not function correctly when it is starving for rest.  You don’t heal as well.  You don’t digest food as well.  You don’t think as clearly.  Sleep deprivation affects everything, including your moods and general disposition on life.  You are setting yourself up for failure when you push yourself to stay up all night working.  Go to bed!  Make sleep your top priority in life.  It’s okay to tell folks you need to get some rest.  It’s okay to take a nap during the day if you need it.

Whatever it takes you have to make time for yourself

Just as it says, take time for yourself.  Even if it has to be while you’re on your way to the grocery store, or folding a great mountain of clothes, you can find time for only you.  Just take time to really be present in the moment.  Feel the texture of the clothing.  Breathe in the fresh scent of clean laundry.  Find ways to make the situation pleasurable.
